Black Pottery or Deep Burning Process

Craftsman India Online Is a Pioneer whole seller and retailer in handicraft products throughout India. They have nearly 200 skilled craftsmen from different parts of India. All of their clay cookwares are unique and handcrafted. Craftsman India Online Earthen/Clay Handi for Cooking and Serving (Black) is one of its products.

You will get a 2L Handled Handi, a Stand, and 2 Wooden Spatulas in this set. This Handi is made up of clay, and its color is black. It is black colored because it is made up of an ancient technique called Black Pottery or Deep Burning Process. In this process, pots are kilned(baked) two times, the First time the regular red clay pots are made, and the Second time, potters burn the pots stacked together with wood and hay at 1200°C temperature. This process will make the pots very strong and durable. During this process, pots turn black. Deep Burned Pots can withstand high temperatures when used on a gas stove. This Handi is Pre-Seasoned using edible corn starch. There are no chemicals used in this Handi. The clay is naturally excavated. So don’t worry, it will never harm your health.

Tips to Maintain Craftsman India Online LPG and Microwave Unglazed Clay Handi

  • Always season the clay cookware before you cook for the first time in it.
  • Don’t use soap or detergent to clean clay utensils. Clay being porous will absorb the soap, and when you cook the food next time, soap will dissolve in your food and can be poisonous.
  • To clean the pot, first, soak it into the water for a while and then scrub it using Gram(Besan) Flour or Wheat(Gehoon) Flour or Baking soda or Salt.
  • Don’t pour water into the hot clay pots because the sudden temperature change may lead to cracks in the body. So please wait for it to cool down, then soak in water, and then wash.
  • Don’t heat an empty pot.
  • Do not overheat the clay cookware. Just cook your food on low to medium flame. Overheating may cause cracks in cookware.
